Who was the best boys basketball player on the MS Coast in 2023-24? Vote now

High school basketball in South Mississippi once again featured some of the top talent in the state.

Here’s a chance for fans to select a Player of the Year for the 2023-24 campaign with candidates coming from St. Patrick, Biloxi, Harrison Central, Pascagoula, Moss Point, Christian Collegiate, Pass Christian, Gulfport, St. Martin and Ocean Springs.

The Fan Vote winner of the poll will be recognized with the rest of the Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Team when published.

You have until noon on Wednesday, April 3 to vote in the poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like at sunherald.com.

Get to know the nominees:

  • Dorian McMillian, Pascagoula: McMillian was Mississippi’s 6A Mr. Basketball after averaging 16 points and four rebounds per game in leading the Panthers to the Final Four.

  • Matt Krass, St. Patrick: Krass was the Coast’s leading scorer, pouring in 29 points a game with five assists and four rebounds added.

  • Aujaylon Barron, Harrison Central: Barron was the top-scoring point guard on the Coast, averaging a 16.3 nightly clip and 2.5 assists with 2 steals per game.

  • Amir Abdul-Rauf, Gulfport: Abdul-Rauf led the Admirals with 21 points scored per game with three assists and two rebounds.

  • Quey’Sean Taylor, Moss Point: Taylor stepped into the primary scorer role for the Tigers and averaged 14 points and eight rebounds per game as a junior.

  • Reggie Connor, Biloxi: Connor led the Indians with 17 points per game and will continue his career at Pearl River Community College.

  • Maddox Noblitt, Ocean Springs: Noblitt led the Greyhounds with 17 points and five rebounds averaged per game.

  • Lauren Jaynes, Pass Christian: Jaynes averaged 14.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.6 steals a game for the Pirates.

  • Dillon Woods, Christian Collegiate: Woods scored 19.4 points per game, was named Region MVP and an MAIS All Star.

  • Tony Mora, St. Martin: Mora scored 12.6 points per game, knocked down 40 3s and signed to continue his career at Southeastern Baptist College.
