Rock Hill Herald Fall Sports’ Athletes of the Week

Karis Alexander, Clover Girls’ Basketball: The 5-foot-8 senior scored 20 points with four assists, three steals and seven deflections in a 60-35 win at Lancaster, Nov. 28.

Alexander also scored 16 points, six rebounds, three assists and seven deflections in a 62-32 victory over Blacksburg (SC), Dec. 1.

Alexander is averaging 13.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, three assists and 2.8 steals per game for Clover (4-0) this season.

Jackson Burnham, Nation Ford Basketball: The 6-foot-3 senior scored 31 points to go with six rebounds, two assists and three steals in a 63-61 win at Charlotte Latin in the season opener, Nov. 28.

Burnham also scored 28 points, had five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in a 60-56 win over South Pointe (SC), Dec. 1.

Nation Ford is 2-0 overall this season.

Jada Chambliss, Fort Mill Girls’ Basketball: The 5-foot-7 sophomore scored nine points, grabbed six rebounds and four steals as Fort Mill beat Belmont South Point 55-51 in the season opener, Nov. 28.

Chambliss also scored nine points with six rebounds and one steal in a 51-20 win over Christ Church Episcopal, Nov. 29.

Chambliss finished off the week with 12 points, seven rebounds and one steal in a 37-26 win at Catawba Ridge, Dec. 1.

Chambliss is averaging 10 points, 6.3 rebounds and two steals per game for Fort Mill (3-0) this season.

Aiden Cherikos, Legion Collegiate Basketball: The 5-foot-10 senior scored 29 points, had five rebounds and four steals in a 65-63 win over York Prep, Nov. 28.

Cherikos also scored 30 points in a 92-87, overtime loss at Community School of Davidson, Nov. 30.

Cherikos is averaging 23.3 points per game for Legion Collegiate (1-4) this season.

Ayden Davis, York Basketball: The 6-foot-1 senior scored 18 points and had 15 rebounds in a 74-42 win at Chester, Nov. 28.

Davis also had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds in a 65-58 win over York Prep, Nov. 30.

Davis finished off the week with seven points in a 75-18 victory over Lake Pointe Academy, Dec. 1.

York is 3-0 overall this season.

Corey Dye (Jr.) Northwestern Wrestling: The Trojans’ senior started the season 5-0, winning the 120-pound title at the Jim Hayes Invitational at East Mecklenburg High, Dec. 2.

Dye, Jr., was also named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at East Mecklenburg.

Dye, Jr., is the defending, S.C. 4A state champion at 113 pounds.

Jaiden Foster, Lancaster Girls’ Wrestling: The Bruins’ sophomore started her season 5-0 at the Brawl in the Hall Invitational at Rock Hill, Dec. 2.

Foster had three pins one decision and one forfeit (win) in the 130 and 135 weight classes at Rock Hill.

Chloe Hudson, Rock Hill Girls’ Basketball: The 5-foot-9 sophomore scored 38 points, including a school-record 10 three-pointers, to go with 10 rebounds, six steals and one assist in a 76-13 win over Northwestern, Nov. 28.

Hudson also scored 22 points (five three-pointers) with five rebounds and two steals in a 56-54 victory over Dorman, Nov. 27.

Hudson is averaging 24.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.8 assists per game for Rock Hill (5-0) this season.

Hudson is getting recruiting interest from Holy Cross, North Greenville University and UNC Wilmington, according to Rock Hill girls’ basketball coach, Kennan Orr.

Victoria “Star” Morris, South Pointe Girls’ Basketball: The 5-foot-11 senior scored 20 points, had seven rebounds and seven steals in a 81-27 win over Chapin, Nov. 28.

Morris scored 17 points, had 14 rebounds, five assists and two steals in a 67-53 loss at Lake Norman, Dec. 1.

The next day, Morris scored 22 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, six assists and seven steals in a 61-38 victory at Cuthbertson.

South Pointe (SC) is 3-2 overall this season.

Ghaleb Wilson, Andrew Jackson Basketball: The 6-foot-2 senior scored 28 points, had five rebounds and a steal in a 62-38 win over Lakewood, Nov. 29.

Wilson followed that up with 36 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and three assists in a 62-38 victory at Great Falls, Dec. 1.

The next day, Wilson scored 14 points, had four assists and two steals in a 52-47 loss at North Augusta.

Wilson is averaging 18.2 points, six rebounds, two steals and 1.6 assists per game for Andrew Jackson (3-2) this season.
