Biden campaign raises $127 million in June, topping Trump for first time since March

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden's reelection campaign said Tuesday it raised $127 million in June, including $38 million in the last four days of the month, as the campaign sought to project strength amid the fallout from Biden's disastrous debate performance last week.

June marked the campaign's single largest monthly haul of the 2024 race and was boosted by a Hollywood fundraiser hosted by former President Barack Obama and a several A-list celebrities that brought in $30 million.

Biden's June numbers topped the $112 million that President Donald Trump and his allies reported raising in June, making it the first month Biden outraised Trump since March.

Combined with the previous two months, the Biden campaign said it raised $264 million in the second quarter and now has $240 million on hand to spend, up from the $212 million war chest it had at the end of May.

The Trump campaign raised $331 million in the second quarter and said it has $285 million on hand to spend − $45 million more than Biden has.

Fundraising totals include money raised by the campaigns, their respective parties and other joint fundraising committees.

The Biden campaign said last Thursday, the day of Biden's debate against former President Donald Trump, was its "best grassroots fundraising day" of the race and the Friday after the debate was the second best. Biden struggled to complete thoughts and sentences during the debate, alarming Democrats and igniting calls that he should drop out of the race.

Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez, in a statement, said the fundraising is a "testament to the committed and growing base of supporters standing firmly behind" Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris and "clear evidence that our voters understand the choice in this election."

Trump's co-campaign managers, Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, in a statement, said "polling and voter enthusiasm continue to grow for President Trump" despite the Biden campaign spending nearly $120 million on advertising.

"This fundraising momentum is likely to grow even more as we head into a world-class convention and see the Democrats continue their circular firing squad in the aftermath of Biden’s debate collapse.”

Buoyed by donations after his guilty conviction in New York hush-money trial, Trump outraised Biden in both May and April after Biden had amassed a sizable fundraising advantage earlier in the campaign.

The Trump campaign and allies raised $76 million in April, compared to $51 million for Biden that month.

In May, the Trump campaign and the RNC raised $141 million, easily topping the $85 million raised in June by Biden and his allies. Trump's June fundraising was boosted by a $50 million donation from ultra-wealthy banking heir Timothy Mellon to Trump's MAGA Inc. Super PAC.
