Liberal MP questions whether Justin Trudeau had a ‘bozo eruption’

A lot of people thought Justin Trudeau spoke out of turn, earlier this month, when he said that any future Liberal candidate would have to be pro-choice.

Well, it appears that there's at least one Liberal MP who thought the same thing.

CTV News has obtained secretly recorded audio of a conversation between pro-life Liberal MP John MacKay and "someone with Conservative leanings" where the former says that he wondered if Trudeau had a "bozo eruption".

"I initially thought it was a bozo eruption; that he didn’t actually think about what he said," McKay said.

"But even more disturbing is that his brain trust might have actually thought about this, and if they did … it scares the hell out of me. If you don’t know this is a toxic issue for a population then you have no political sense whatsoever."

The actual recording can be heard here at the CTV website.

Trudeau's stance on pro-choice candidates has softened over the past month: The Liberal leader subsequently released a letter saying that candidates will be allowed to have their own views but that he expects "incoming MPs to vote in favour of a woman’s right to choose."

Nevertheless, the the ramifications continue to be felt.

The media — who have been accused of going gaga over Trudeau — have continuously been writing about this.

Roman Catholic leaders across the country continue to criticize his stance with some even recommending that he banned from receiving communion.

Last week, former Liberal MP Jim Karygiannis told CBC News that the leader's edict would "definitely...hurt the party."

There's also some chatter now that Karygiannis' comments could have a detrimental affect in the upcoming byelection in his old riding of Scarborough-Agincourt.

Since becoming leader , Trudeau has been attacked from both the left and the right but, for the most part, has had a pretty easy ride.

Now, with criticism coming from within in his party, we'll see what he's made of.

This is truly his first real test as leader.
