Sun News’ Ezra Levant gets a rise out of anti-pipeline protesters

There's an old adage in journalism biz that goes something like this:

'Journalists should report the story, not become it.'

That doesn't, however, always hold true these days, especially not with the folks at the Sun News Network.

Sun News personality Ezra Levant — who has become 'the story' multiple times in recent years — took his, rather entertaining, act to the west coast last weekend for a anti-pipeline demonstration in Vancouver.

The demonstration, in Vancouver, drew thousands and was part of a national day of action against pipelines.

I think it's fair to say that Levant enjoyed getting a rise out of these protesters.

Levant has become a celebrity poster child, of sorts, for the pro-oil movement and the climate change skeptics alike.

In 2011, he released his best selling book Ethical Oil, which asks: "is it ethically responsible to import our oil from the Sudan, Russia, and Mexico" versus developing our own oil sands?

He's recently had epic battles with environmental guru David Suzuki and often uses his show on Sun News as a platform to slam reports about global warming.

Coincidentally, another YouTube video — about climate change and the environment — is buzzing south of the border today.

The video is of HBO's John Oliver trying to 'balance out' the debate about climate change.

Skip to 3:31 of the video to see the debate between Bill Nye (the science guy) and a climate change skeptic.

(Warning: Video contains coarse language).

Maybe we could set up a similar debate, in Canada, with Levant?
