‘Magnum, P.I.’ House Hits the Market (Hawaiian Shirts Not Included)

Tom Selleck's "Magnum, P.I." stomping grounds are up for grabs.

Say aloha to Pahonu, the beachfront estate in Hawaii's Waimanalo Beach area (on the island of Oahu), which TV watchers may better remember by the name it was known as on the show: Robin's Nest. While playing a private eye on the 1980s crime drama, Selleck's Thomas Magnum — and his famous 'stache — resided in the guest house on the posh property, which just hit the market for a whopping $15.75 million.

The European-style main house, which was designed by Louis Davis and built in 1933, is just over 11,000-square-feet and boasts five bedrooms and six bathrooms, according to its listing on the Sotheby's website.

The property, which is known for its turtle pond, spans three acres and includes the gated house, a bathhouse, a boat house, tennis courts, and a three-plus car garage.

The home, which went on the market last month, is also known as the Anderson house because it has long been home to local politician Eve Glover Anderson. She is the stepdaughter of the late Cox Enterprise heiress Barbara Cox Anthony, who was the wealthiest person on Hawaii until she died in 2007.

The house — which has not yet been officially photographed for the listing because of inclement weather on the island — has become a bit of a tourist spot with gawkers trying to get a glimpse behind the gates. It is closed to the public, no tours, but fans have long walked along the beach (state law requires that beaches remain accessible to everyone) to get a look — or snapped aerial shots.

In "Magnum, P.I.," which aired form 1980 to 1988, Selleck's character moved his Hawaiian shirts into the guesthouse of the property, which was owned by absentee homeowner and novelist, Robin Masters. However, Magnum's foil was Jonathan Quayle Higgins III, who oversaw the property (along with his Doberman Pinschers, Zeus and Apollo), and gave Magnum a hard time about using the property's many amenities.

While the house is known as the "Magnum, P.I." house by locals, the estate was also used in several other shows, including 10 episodes of the original "Hawaii Five-O" as well as "Charlie's Angeles" and "Murder, She Wrote."
