Cat clings onto plane during flight, surprising the pilot

What appeared to be a standard flight had quickly turned into anything but when the pilot spotted an unexpected passenger on board.

In a video posted on YouTube, a cat is seen crawling its way out of the aircraft’s wing as the pilot and his passenger fly a hundred feet from the ground. And they apparently had no idea the feline passenger was on board.

YouTube user Romain Jantot, believed to be the pilot, uploaded the video on Sunday and it has already racked up over 270,000 views.

He was taking his passenger for a standard flight at a flying club in Kourou, French Guiana, when the furry feline appeared out of nowhere while they were in the air.

“I still don’t know if got in after the pre-flight or if I missed it,” Jantot said in the YouTube description.

As seen in the video, Jantot and his passenger are taking off from the tarmac and cat-free. But well above the ground and about 40 seconds into the video, the cat’s head slowly appears from the plane’s left wing. It then crawls towards the pilot and passenger and clings to the aircraft.

A minute passes before the pilot notices the cat flying with them and his reaction is priceless. Jantot and his passenger are seen up-in-the-air enjoying the view when suddenly, much to his surprise, Jantot sees the cat grasping the metal frame of the plane’s wing. He’s shock is clear as he notices the extra passenger on a board.

Immediately, he starts to descend the aircraft to the runway. Before the plane comes to a full stop, he unbuckles his seat belt and lowers the cat to safety.

“The cat is doing well, she is still our mascot,” Jantot said.

This is definitely one death-defying kitty but here’s something pilots should add to their pre-flight checklist: check for cats on board.
