Contemptuous cats dress up for Kitty CATure Fashion Show

Hairless cats in plaid, beanies and top hats — scarcely hiding their contempt — and puppies in tiger print graced the stage at the annual Kitty CATure Fashion Show this weekend in New York City.

The American Kennel Association and The International Cat Association presented the fifth annual fashion event, which permitted dogs to share the catwalk for the first time this year.

There was 'cattitude' to spare and the fashion choices surely had the felines plotting revenge on their owners for turning them into dress-up dolls. The dogs seemed less bothered by their clown hats and mini bow ties in the many, many photos snapped of the models.

The Daily Beast reported a Sphinx named Vengeance was the first to walk onstage wearing an argyle sweater, followed by another Sphinx, Madeline, wearing a ballerina costume.

While the spectacle was entertaining, with some cats hissing and clawing their way through their moment in the spotlight, according to the Daily Beast, the designers creating the tiny outfits said fashion trends really do extend to paws. Designer Ada Nieves told the Daily Beast animal prints and dog sunglasses are trendy this season.

If you ask the cats, they might tell you naps, fur and a deep disinterest in everything human are in style.
