#CreateNoHate: Irish teenager has a powerful message to share about cyberbullying

A 13-year-old who has been the victim of cyberbullying is speaking out about the issue with a powerful video.

Luke Culhane from Limerick, Ireland, created a short campaign video titled ’Cyber Bullying: Create No Hate,’ to show how virtual bullying still has a physical impact on the victim.

In the video, Culhane is seen getting cyberbullied through various social media platforms by an anonymous person and each time the hurtful comment results in a physical injury.

“I have been cyberbullied myself and understand firsthand the impact it can have on a young person’s self esteem,” the Irish filmmaker told I Love Limerick.

Towards the end of the video, Culhane has some advice to share with those who have experienced cyberbullying by explaining his “stop, block and tell” method.

He created the video in honour of Safer Internet Day in Europe, an initiative to promote “the responsible use of digital technology for children and young people,” according to the official website.

“I wanted to do something to speak out against it and I wanted to use a medium that I am passionate about such as filmmaking,” Culhane told I Love Limerick.

“I felt the Safer Internet Day was an appropriate time to do it and create discussion around the issue.”
