Cuddle Clones: US firm will make a stuffed animal replica of your pet

Cute or creepy?

Louisville-based online retailer Cuddle Clones Inc. is creating custom-made stuffed animal replicas of deceased pets.

“From sending someone a Cuddle Clone to hug to cope with the loss of their pet to sending a teenager off to college with a plush version of their best friend, we really are creating big smiles,” said founder Jennifer Graham. “As pet lovers ourselves, it makes us happy knowing that our customers are happy.”

To have a Cuddle Clone made of your late pet — or current one, really, there’s no rule that your pet has to be dead — upload a photo or two of your pet through Cuddle Clones’ online store, choose a few key characteristics like ear and tail positions, and place your order.

In about four months, you’ll be send a high-quality plush animal that looks just like the animal you already love.

(And not only are these clones cuddlier than taxidermy, they’re cheaper, too!)

Smaller “clones,” like those of guinea pigs, birds or reptiles, cost $129 USD and will measure up to 8 inches in length. Larger pets, like cats, dogs and horses, can be cloned for $199 USD, and will measure up to 17 inches.

Want a life-size clone? Well, anything is possible if you have the cash to pay for it.

Custom figurines of pets are also available.

According to Graham, Cuddle Clones Inc. is selling at least one clone per day, despite not advertising much since the company’s 2011 launch.

Would you pay for a stuffed animal that looks just like your beloved Fido?
