Tire debris, hurtling rocks, and the occasional off-course bird are enough to startle most drivers on a busy motorway, but what about the sudden appearance of a bouncing 60-inch saw blade?

A driver in Chongqing, China, received a shock when a five-foot tall circular saw blade fell of the back of a truck, slicing into the hood of his car.

The man, known only as Mr. Xiang, told reporters he had heard a loud noise and saw the blade bouncing across the highway towards him, The Daily Mail reports.

According to The Independent, the blade lodged itself into the car, mere inches from the driver’s side, before Mr. Xiang skidded to a stop.

The flatbed truck that held the blade crashed on the other side of the road, hurtling more blades off the back, but neither driver was injured.

Chinese authorities are investigating whether the blades were secured properly, adding that if the blade had veered off its course, the accident could have been fatal.
