Man stages his own home burglary to get out of work

Dwayne Yeager was arrested for providing false information to an officer after faking a burglary at his home.

We get it. No one really ever wants to go to work.

Dwayne Yeager, 31, of Brandon, Florida, reportedly ‘staged’ a burglary at his own house in order to get out of going to work, Gawker reports.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call from Yeager at 7:25 a.m. on Monday that someone had broken into his home.

He told police that his door was open and the window in his son’s bedroom was wide open. He informed police that when he arrived home he saw a white Honda civic pulling away.

Even though the house appeared to be ransacked and the front door and bedroom windows were open, the police could not find any signs of forced entry.

Upon speaking to neighbours, police discovered the truth.

Neighbours said that they saw Yeager leave the house at 6:30 a.m. and then return home at 7:15 a.m. He was seen opening the front door, lifting the blinds and opening the bedroom window. Busted!

He was then seen standing in the front yard until police arrived.

When police confronted Yeager about his bogus break-in story, Yeager folded like a cheap tent. He told the police it was him who staged the burglary in order to avoid going to work, as his wife was adamant on him going.

His wife? …Or his mother? Does she make his lunch and walk him to the bus stop, too?

Neighbours were not happy when they learned of Yeager’s fake break-in that forced them up extra early Monday morning.
“Make sure you check your windows, make sure your kids are safe and I was like, oh my gosh, you know,” said neighbor Doris Morell
,who was approached by a deputy who knocked on her door after the incident, to Bay News 9.

Morell was appalled when she learned of her neighbour's actions.

“That’s just absolutely ridiculous,” she said. “I mean, who would do that? That’s just absurd,” she added.

Perhaps if this guy put as much effort into finding a job he likes as he did this fake home burglary, he wouldn't have to go to such lengths to get out of going.
