Reindeer race sees Dasher live up to his name

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen… but do you know which one would win in a race?

Reindeer named after Santa's faithful team were put to the test at Kempton Park Racecourse in England on Friday. The aptly-named Dasher crossed the finish line first, winning a trophy filled with carrots. Santa Claus (or 'Father Christmas') was on hand to kick off the festivities and get the reindeer started on the right hoof.

The reindeer race was a first for the racecourse, but Kate Miller, spokeswoman for the event's sponsor, said in a The Daily Mail article the event was a tremendous success and may prove to be just what race organizers need to keep business brisk during the often slow holiday season.

Unfortunately, there was one participant absent from the race — Rudolph. His trainer said that he was too sick to join in the reindeer games.
