Rejected smootch at Raptors game was just accidental, kisser contends

There’s nothing worse than being snubbed on camera at a sporting event for the entire audience to witness. Oh wait, yes there is: Being snubbed on camera by your own girlfriend is so much worse.

Matt Muszak, a 24-year-old Fanshaw College student attended Wednesday night's Raptors playoff game with his girlfriend of six months when the play was stopped and the cameras turned onto the crowd.

With 27 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Muszak went in for a premature celebratory kiss but his girlfriend unintentionally ignored his act of affection, and poor Muszak was left looking like a chump for the world to see. Did I mention it was caught on camera? Oh, and you know it went viral, fast.

The clip of Muszak, who was left chasing more air than lips, was neatly packaged as an animated GIF playing on loop for optimal repeated awkwardness.

Even with the world cringing at Muszak’s awkward kiss denial, Muszak seems to be laughing it off.

“To be honest, we really don’t remember it happening,” he said. “Until we left the Raptors game, of course, and our phones started blowing up.”

Captured on TSN’s Game 5 broadcast on Thursday, the unfortunate missed kiss made the rounds on many social media websites.

It was featured on most viral-friendly websites and most sports news sites as people to got a good laugh at Muszak’s big kiss-sorry I mean big miss.

“It was never her intention not to kiss me. She thinks that she was talking and I just went in to kiss her, not let her finish her sentence, but it doesn’t look like that – that’s for sure,” Muszak said.

Sure, pal. Whatever makes you feel better...

Needless to say, Muszak knows his awkward moment has since gone viral.

“I’m pretty sure everyone’s seen the video. I’ve seen it everywhere,” he said, laughing. Despite Muszak’s big fail, the Raptor’s, at least, got a big win.

Perhaps Muszak can redeem himself at the Raptors' next home game?
