Doescher is a Portland-based creative director and author interested in Quirk Books. He read Quirk Books’ rendition of Pride and Prejudice, titled Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, watched the Star Wars trilogy for the millionth time, and he attended the Oregon Shakespeare Festival with his family.

Ideas from all three were quickly becoming mashed up inside his creative mind and soon his words were put to paper.

His quirky creation? William Shakespeare’s Star Wars. It quickly became a New York Times best-selling novel with two sequels to be released in 2014.

The third book in the trilogy, The Jedi Doth Run (aka Return of the Jedi) will be available in stores on July 1. However you can always pre-order it from Amazon if simply can’t wait.

Mashups are certainly on the rise in the music world, who would have thought it could be done with novels as well? Especially William Shakespeare meets Star Wars … methinks thou are weird yet witty.
