Wisconsin cop stops traffic to help ducks safely cross busy street

How did the ducklings cross the road?

With the help of one caring police officer, of course.

A mother duck and her little ducklings were struggling to cross a busy street when a Wisconsin police officer took notice, and took charge.

In the video, shot by the officer’s dash cam, the mother duck and her ducklings dash aimlessly throughout traffic to try and get to the other side of the busy street.

At first the officer is in the turning lane, seemingly going about his daily business, when he sees the small, single file line of ducks on the opposing side of the road, desperately trying to get across.

The ducks were in danger of being struck by a vehicle on the busy road, so in an unbelievable display of kindness, the officer stops his car, gets out, and escorts the little duck family to safety. The dash cam shows the officer exit his vehicle to stop traffic, ensure that the ducks cross, and return to his car, surely giving himself a nice pat on the back for his good deed. I think we can all agree that even though this act of kindness could have been a dangerous one, we could use more compassionate people in this world. It's the little things that count.

Check out this video of a Portland police officer her also took the time to help a family of ducks cross the road. Only this cop actually gave up the pursuit of a speeding offender in order to help these tiny creatures. He saved the ducks, but the speeder got away. Darn!
