Writer dances to Kanye West while quitting her job in viral video

Marina Shifrin says she was sick of working long hours at the animation company where she had spent two years, sick of throwing all of her energy into making news videos when her boss only cared about page views. So she made a video of her own — to quit her job.

In a video posted to YouTube on Saturday, the young writer and self-described "struggling comic" boogies her way through a bitter message to her boss set to Kanye West's "Gone," explaining in the description what drove her to the medium of viral dance resignation video.

I work for an awesome company that makes news videos. I have put my entire life into this job, but my boss only cares about quantity, how fast we write and how many views each video gets. I believe it's more important to focus on the quality of the content. When you learn to improve this, the views will come. Here is a little video I made explaining my feelings.

Shifrin's video would certainly impress her former boss at the Taiwanese company Next Media Animation with its page views — it has been played more than 323,000 times in two days.

Shifrin received a flood of response to her moves and her guts on Twitter, where she also posted the response she received from her boss.

Last year, Gizmodo interviewed Shifrin about her work with Next Media Animation, touching on the lightning-fast speed at which the company produces animated news videos.
