Zlatan Ibrahimovic caught being a stand-up guy

Swedish soccer superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic is known for his unbelievable plays on the pitch, but now a short YouTube clip has surfaced of him being “a man of honour” off the field.

For those who don’t follow soccer, it’s customary for a young soccer player to walk out on the field next to each player and stand next to them while the national anthem is played.

The kids are called “mascots,” and getting to walk on the field with one of their soccer heroes is understandably a pretty big deal.

Ibrahimovic, who plays for Paris St. Germain, is standing at the front of the line of his teammates in the clip, with their mascots lined up beside them.

Suddenly, an older man appears in the left of the frame and attempts to swap the boy standing next to Ibrahimovic with the boy next in line.

Ibrahimovic spots the attempted switch and delicately swaps the two boys back to their original places. Then he pats the boy in the front on the head and smiles at him.

In a YouTube clip of the incident, the user explains it as follows:

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a man of honour, a nobleman. The Swede has often shown himself to be a man of higher values, such as with his humanitarian gesture last year, when he sported fake tattoos in aid of child poverty. And he made another honorable gesture with the St Etienne mascots this week.
Seeing that a man was trying to push one kid to the front of the line so that he’d be in shot with Zlatan, the Swede stopped the sly move and made sure the kid who was originally first stayed there.

Though there is no evidence that the white-haired man is the boy’s father, it does appear that he was trying to pull some sort of sneaky switcheroo to get his kid next to the bigger soccer star.

We’re not sure if the move makes Ibrahimovic a “nobleman,” but he does seems like a pretty nice guy.
