Cops hand out ice cream — not tickets — to drivers

Police officers pull over confused drivers, then surprise them with a treat.

This is one time you may actually want to be pulled over.

Police officers in Quincy, Calif., had a little fun with some unsuspecting drivers, pulling them over for a driving violation they'd never heard of: vehicle code 339472.

The concerned drivers' violation? "Driving without ice cream."

The officers then doled out the "punishment" in the form of refreshing treats, prompting a variety of reactions, from relief and laughter to total confusion.

The sweet surprise was part of a promotion for Wall's Ice Cream, and is quickly going viral.

Last summer, Ohio cops doled out special "tickets" to kids caught wearing bike helmets. Each ticket could be exchanged for a free ice cream cone at a local drive-in.

"This is the kind of ticket writing I REALLY enjoy," Police Chief David Oliver wrote on the Brimfield Police Department's Facebook page.
