Girl reunited with her dog after sad goodbye six months earlier

Alyssa Smith and her family left their home in Dubai for the United Kingdom six months ago.

Despite seeking out a pet passport — the paperwork and blood tests would take over six months to complete — the Smiths couldn't bring Holly, the street dog they adopted with them.

The devastated family had to put Holly up for adoption and relocate to Andover without her.

Months later, Alyssa's mother Claudia was browsing a Dubai website and discovered that Holly had been abandoned by her adoptive family. Immediately, she took the necessary steps required to bring the dog to the UK.

About £1,300 ($2,110 CAD) later, Alyssa's parents surprised her with Holly's arrival.

Watch the touching reunion below.

"My daughter Alyssa was heartbroken. But when there was a chance to bring her home we had to," Darren Smith, Alyssa's father, told the BBC.

"I grumbled about the money but the look on my daughter's face was a priceless family moment."
