Kitten rescued from Dr Pepper machine finds new home

On Monday morning, workers at a Big Lots store in Guntersville, Alabama, discovered a kitten crying inside an outdoor vending machine.

The male tabby cat had somehow crawled into a tiny hole in the back of the Dr Pepper machine and couldn't get out.

After workers failed to get the cat out, Big Lots manager Candice Biggs called Guntersville Animal Control.

"It sounded like it had been crying for a while," Biggs told al.com.

Animal Control Officer Mike Henderson used a scope to assess the situation, then pulled aside a divider to get to the scared kitten.

Henderson gave the small kitten to Addie Grace Smith, a friend's granddaughter.

"I give the kitten away to a little girl. I know a little girl that's been wanting a kitten real good. I decided to give it to her and she named it Pepper," Henderson told WAFF.
