'They might have guns, but we have flowers': Father’s explanation to son about Paris attacks brings comfort to all

How do you explain a tragedy to a child? This dad might have the right idea.

Angel Le and his son, Brandon, were visiting the memorial site outside the Bataclan Theatre in Paris when a reporter asked the little boy if he understood what took place.

The result is a touching video posted on Facebook showing a precious conversation between a father and his son following the tragedy.

Standing alongside his kneeling father, Brandon tells the reporter from Le Petit Journal, that “bad guys are not very nice.”

The little boy then tells the reporter about his concern of being really careful and “changing houses.”

His dad reassures his son that there is no need to move out.

“France is our home,” he said in the video.

“But there’s bad guys daddy,” the little boy replies.

His father is quick to comfort his son and tells him “they might have guns, but we have flowers.”

Brandon is not convinced and is quick to question his dad, “but flowers don’t do anything…”

As his father gestures towards the flood of tributes left behind for the victims, he said: “Of course they do, look, everyone is putting flowers. It’s to fight against guns.”

A smile appears on the little boy’s face after he realizes that the flowers are “here to protect us.”

“I feel better now,” the boy told the reporter as the video concludes.
