Turkish CEO gives his staff $27 million after he sells his firm

A Turkish CEO sold his company for a whopping $589 million, but did not want to leave his loyal employees empty handed.

Some of the money, which could have easily been used to support a lavish lifestyle, went back into the pocket of the workers.

Nevzat Aydin paid out $27-million in bonuses to his 114 employee staff, equaling just under $250,000 per person, CNN reports.

That’s about 150-times their monthly earning.

“The bonus package is life changing for many of us,” one of the employees, Nedim Nahmias told CNN. He knew about the payout, but he had no idea how much it would be.

Adyin, who said his online food ordering company Yemeksepeti was not an overnight success, wanted to reward his employees for their hard work.

“I believe in team work and I believe success is much more enjoyable and glorious when shared with the rest if the team,” he said.

When the bonus was announced, many on the staff were overwhelmed with emotion.

“There were emotions, because you affect the lives of the people,” Adyin told MSN. “People can buy homes, cars. They can immediately do something otherwise they could not with [their normal] monthly wages.”

“It was a good thing, I wish we could have given them more.”

Adyin will remain the CEO of Yemksepeti but will also join the executive board of Delivery Hero, the company that his food ordering service was sold to.

He jokes that his bonus plan will make other bosses “hate us.”
