Pamela Anderson has chosen who she wants to be: Barbie.
After decades of being compared to the Mattel doll, the 44-year-old "Baywatch" star has posed as Barbie for the first time for celebrity photographer David LaChapelle.
"Our first shoot," the B.C. native wrote on Facebook Friday along with the pink-hewed pic, "when David met Pamela ... "
With her trademark tousled platinum blond locks, sun-kissed skin, and pouty pink lips, Anderson poses in what appears to be a toy display window surrounded by balls, hula hoops, and Barbie paraphernalia. She wears baby blue lingerie with a price tag attached and a pair of retro roller skates. A Scott Disick clone who can only be Ken reclines at her feet.
Anderson has oft been compared to the blond doll ever since she rose to fame as buxom lifeguard C.J. Parker on "Baywatch," a role she played from 1992 to 1998. Having the dubious distinction of appearing on the cover of Playboy a record number of times (13) didn't help much, particularly since the last time she appeared on the skin mag was in 2010.
That same year, Anderson appeared on "Dancing with the Stars" in a shimmery pink costume, dancing out sexy routines that prompted the media to compare her to Barbie once again.
A year prior, Anderson had been compared to the Mattel doll after stepping out in London in another pink outfit, a silky pink minidress. Around the same time, another British tab referred to Anderson as "Malibu Barbie" when she turned up at a California beach in -- yep, you guessed it -- a pink and very skimpy bikini.
In 1998, the Canadian icon told Cosmopolitan that she wasn't embarrassed by her reputation.
"I've obviously evolved, but you know what? I like being a Barbie," Anderson said. "Half of my closet has the Barbie clothes and the other half has Armani, Dolce & Gabbana and Versace. I'm not trying to change my image. I'm just growing."
Still, it's nice to see Anderson hasn't grown out of dolls just yet.
