Tired parents, rejoice! High-tech stroller folds and unfolds itself

File this one in the "why hasn't someone invented this sooner?" folder.

A new baby stroller can fold and unfold itself with the push of a button.

Aptly named the Origami stroller by 4moms, the high-tech product made its debut last week at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

And get this: the built-in battery that powers the Origami recharges itself up when you push the stroller — therefore you don't need to remember to plug it in at night.

While the rolling wheels generate electricity for the battery, it also powers an LED light that shines in the front of the stroller when mom or dad push it at night — and an optional attachment can power up your cell phone, too.

The Origami won't fold down if it detects someone sitting in the seat.

Speaking as a dad of three, my wife and I no doubt could've benefitted from such as gadget when the little 'uns were babies just a few short years ago. Ah, the memories of wrestling with our strollers to fold and toss in the trunk — and of course pinching the skin between the thumb and forefinger in the process (you know what I'm talking about). And opening the collapsed stroller outside of a mall (in winter) was nearly as fun, when trying to hold the handlebar with one hand (and usually a child or two in the other) and kicking open the small lever at the base of the stroller. Ah, good times.

But as with most new high-tech products, the Origami is pricy at $849.99. It's available to order now, along with optional accessories including Origami Color Kits ($99.99), the Graco SnugRide Series Car Seat Adapter ($59.99) and Handle Bar Bag with Cell Phone Charger ($39.99).

Here's a short video to see the Origami in action:
