Who is Emily DiDonato? What to know about Jake Gyllenhaal’s new girlfriend

Good news, everyone! It looks like Jake Gyllenhaal has finally gotten over his breakup with Taylor Swift. Of course, it appears he's done it by dating another statuesque 20-something.

The 34-year-old actor is reportedly dating 22-year-old supermodel Emily DiDonato, whom he met at spinning class at the popular Manhattan chain SoulCycle. Gyllenhaal apparently attends the weekly spin classes whenever he’s in New York.

"He'll hop on the instructor bike. He loves the attention from the girls," a source told Us Weekly, adding that the pair have been dating for "a month or two."

The “Brokeback Mountain” and “Donnie Darko” star has previously dated actresses Kirsten Dunst and Reese Witherspoon. He was with Swift from October 2010 to January 2011. Their breakup (perhaps) inspired Swift’s breakup anthem “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”

DiDonato breaks the blonde streak in Gyllenhaal’s dating history (but just imagine her with golden locks -- Swift-esque, right?). But it’s no wonder this young beauty caught Gyllenhaal’s eye.

She was raised by Italian and Irish parents in the small town of Orange County, N.Y., and signed with her first modeling agency at 18. Only one year later, she was booking gigs with Ralph Lauren, Guess?, and Maybelline New York.

“The great thing about the discovery of Emily is that she goes from being unknown to a major beauty girl overnight, and that’s something that’s incredible. But it’s also something she deserves because she’s a really sweet girl,” said Michael Angel, a stylist who worked with DiDonato on her first commercial for Maybelline’s “Color Sensational Lip Color" in 2009.

“I never would have expected doing this at all. I mean, I’m a senior in high school. My friends and family, we’re still in shock,” DiDonato said while filming the commercial. That same year, she was named “top newcomer” by Vogue Germany.

Since then, she’s worked for Victoria’s Secret and graced the covers of Spain’s Marie-Claire, Mexico’s Vogue Belleza, Canada’s The Block -- and, in her biggest achievement to date, Sports Illustrated’s 2013 swimsuit edition. But DiDonato is more than just a pair of pretty blue eyes. She also helped launch the charity Fatigues to Fabulous in 2011, an organization that supports female veterans.

So, for both of these attractive specimens, working out in spin class was not only good for their health, but for their love lives, too. And if this affair doesn’t end up being forever, let’s hope for Gyllenhaal’s sake that DiDonato doesn’t try her hand at songwriting.
