Lisa Niemi Swayze reveals Patrick’s last words, proves National Enquirer wrong

The National Enquirer has been proven wrong again, this time by Patrick Swayze's widow.

Two years ago, the infamous tabloid published a cover story in which they claimed the actor's last words were: "I'm not afraid to die. I'm going home."

But according to Swayze's widow, dancer Lisa Niemi, two days before the "Dirty Dancing" star died from pancreatic cancer on September 14, 2009, he had a message for her instead.

"My last words to Patrick? 'I love you,' and those were his last words to me," she writes in her new memoir, "Worth Fighting For," which was recently excerpted in the Daily Mail online.

Swayze, then 57, slipped into a coma on a Friday and passed away two days later, a scene that his wife of 34 years remembers in her new book.

"I didn't want to leave the room. I was afraid that suddenly I'd be afraid," Lisa wrote. "I lay back at [Patrick's] side, I held his hand and felt his pulse again ... was it? ... was it? And then he didn't breathe any more. It was 10 o'clock in the morning. He'd used every last bit of that body and he needed to leave it behind."
