Why Katherine Heigl prefers authentic nude scenes

What's weirder than being naked on screen? For Katherine Heigl, it's pretending not to be.

In her new movie "One for the Money," Heigl's heroine Stephanie Plum finds herself nude in the shower. Not too weird, right? Except that she happens to be handcuffed to it.

The 33-year-old actress reveals that rather than trying to stay decent in the scene, she "pretty much" embraced her nudity. "You can cover the bits with pasties and that sort of thing, but I think that's weirder than just being naked," Heigl told "Extra.". "It looks weirder and more disconcerting to the crew. I'm sure they're like, 'So, Katherine has no nipples.'"

Though she claimed her philosophy might be "kind of useless," Heigl still shared "some tricks" of the naked trade. "For the real nude stuff I was able to cover with my hands," she said, "then they cut in tighter and at that point I can wear underwear."

Though Heigl rarely takes it off for movies (she wore a bed sheet for her nude scene with Ashton Kutcher in "The Killers" and kept on a bra for her "Knocked Up" sex scenes), she showed off her fake-nude expertise recently in a Funny or Die PSA, in which she posed topless with a dog covering her bare chest.

Heigl could have used the pup two years ago when she almost accidentally flashed her fans when her strap broke at the Showest convention in Las Vegas while she was on stage accepting the Female Star of the Year. Though she didn't end up showing off any of her assets, at least we know we would have been saved the "horror" of seeing pasties.
