Boston Pizza charged for overserving alcohol in traffic death

Employees of a Boston Pizza location in Oshawa have been charged with over-serving alcohol after a customer was struck and killed by a car not far from the restaurant.

The 36-year-old man was struck early Thursday morning at the intersection of Harmony Road and Taunton Road East, and later died from his injuries according to Durham Regional Police.

Three Boston Pizza employees and the restaurant have been charged. Kirandeep Khaira, Harinder Brar and Alicia Brunea face charges of selling liquor to an intoxicated person.

Sgt. Bill Calder said each of the three people and Boston Pizza could face a penalty of up to $15,000 if found guilty, under Section 29 of the the Liquor License Act. The charges are not criminal and do not carry the possibility of jail time. Boston Pizza could have its license revoked or suspended.
