Boy arrested as knife seized after Primark chase

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested by police after a chase through Primark in Birmingham revealed a knife.

West Midlands Police said officers had reason to stop and talk to the boy, only for him to flee the scene.

It said they caught up with him and a search revealed a 25cm-long (9.8in) blade.

The rate of knife crime in the force area is the highest in England.

Last month, the Project Guardian team seized more than 60 knives during patrols.

The taskforce was set up in 2019 to tackle knife crime and youth violence.
