‘Bridgerton’-themed ball planned for Macon, will bring ‘a night of elegance and grandeur’

Netflix’s romantic drama series “Bridgerton” has been renewed for a fourth season, with noble ballroom dancing slated to return in 2026, according to Netflix Tudum. But Macon will have a Bridgerton-themed event in the meantime for fans in the meantime.

While fans wait on the hit show’s next release date, Macon will soon host its own Queen Elizabeth’s Royal Ball, featuring “a night of elegance and grandeur” at the Anderson Conference Center in 2025, said Sabrina Smith, event organizer and Warner Robins resident.

It won’t be the first such event in Georgia. In 2022, TV productions Netflix and Shondaland partnered to host a massive Queen’s Ball in Atlanta, and a similar event will be held in Americus, toward the end of the summer. Next year will be the time for the Regency era to visit Middle Georgia, she said.

“Middle Georgia is my home, and I just feel that there’s not a lot of things to happen in Macon,” Smith said. “People are always fleeing to Atlanta or one of the bigger cities. So, I wanted to have an immersive, Bridgerton-themed ball. It’s an evening where people can ... enjoy themselves close to home and don’t have to drive hours to have a great experience.”

For the ball, Smith is currently searching for various acts and performers to keep attendees engaged. There is a casting call for Middle Georgia who are classically trained string instrumentalists, ballet dancers, acrobats, jugglers, artists and even extras to keep the show running smoothly, she said.

“I reached out to Theatre Macon for performers because I know there’s talent right here in Macon,” Smith said.

More details, what to expect

Dressed in their finest Victorian-style attire, guests can expect live music and performances, a three-course dinner, specialty drinks and more at the 1800s-themed gala event, Smith said.

There will be two stages of the Bridgerton Theme Experience: Royalty, and Ladies and Lords. Royalty is a pre-event reception. There will also be party favors and raffles.

Smith said she had the Regency-era ball in mind for two months. With the community’s help, it can finally come to fruition, she said after mentioning that she is currently funding everything alone without local sponsorship.

“To do something amazing, sometimes you have to sow the seed and let it all come. My goal is not to make money but just for people to have something amazing to do,” she said. “I want to let them know that Macon is not dead.”

Based on the ball’s turnout, Smith said the goal is to host different themed events that Central Georgia can anticipate annually.

The ball won’t take place until April 2025, but important details are already being finalized. It’ll take place at 5171 Eisenhower Parkway, starting at 6 p.m. Those 13 years old and older are welcome to attend, Smith said. There’s an early bird deal on tickets, which start at $125.
