Bridgewater couple recreates famous painting Nova Scotia style

A Nova Scotia couple says it is blown away by how their re-creation of a famous painting has gone viral.

Rick and Bethe Cameron run a puzzle making company called Maritime Moments in Bridgewater.

The two were hoping to take a picture for their Christmas card and decided to pose with a broken shovel, standing like the farmer and his wife in the famous American Gothic painting.

The couple looked through their closets to see what they could find and then had their son take a photo of them.

The photo has garnered more than 5,200 views on Reddit and 2.6 million views on Imgur, although Bethe Cameron confesses she didn’t originally know what Reddit was.

She says one fellow even tweeted her from Denmark.

Cameron says they made the photo to make light of all the snow Nova Scotia has been getting.

“We were just trying to brighten the mood for some people who were getting kind of shack wacky with all the snow we've had," she said.

The Camerons have since made the photo into a puzzle, and it is available for sale on their website.
