Brodie Muldoon, Ottawa police officer, accused of impaired driving

An off-duty Ottawa police officer was charged with impaired driving after allegedly crashing into a parked vehicle in Orleans early Friday morning.

Const. Brodie Muldoon, 31, was arrested after he called police to report the "minor" crash on Belcourt Boulevard, according to Ottawa police.

He was released from custody on a promise to appear in court. He has been reassigned to administrative duties, Ottawa police said.

The Ottawa Police Service Professional Standards Section has also launched an investigation.

“This matter is before the courts and it is important that we respect due process,” Ottawa Police Chief Charles Bordeleau said in a news release. “The Ottawa Police Service expects the conduct of all officers to be of the highest standard and reflective of the values of our community.”

Muldoon is scheduled to appear in court on April 8.
