Bullet hit Riverview child's bedroom window, RCMP say

A week after reporting shots fired at his child's bedroom window, a Riverview man said he's disappointed the police have made no arrests.

He said rifle bullets smashed the glass of the room where his eight-year-old son was sleeping.

The boy, who suffered minor injuries from the broken glass, is so upset he doesn't want to stay in the house, his father said.

The family lives on Pine Glen Road near an ATV trail, and he said the shots likely came from three four-by-four trucks that drove by the house around 1 a.m. on Friday, May 19.

"I have no idea why they would shoot at my house," he said, adding that he believes at least four shots were fired.

A news release from the Southeast District RCMP on Friday said a gun was fired at the house and one shot shattered the glass of the room, causing minor injuries to the child sleeping inside.

The homeowner said police told him they impounded the four-wheelers.

He said he doesn't understand why no one has been charged.

Cpl. Valerie Cyr, who is said to be leading the investigation, did not respond to messages from CBC News on Friday.

In the news release, the RCMP asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Southeast District detachment in Riverview or Crime Stoppers.

Clarification : A previous version of this story contained the name of the homeowner. That name has been removed at the family's request. (May 26, 2017 7:12 PM)
