Bystanders save man who fell onto Toronto subway tracks
A man who fell onto the subway tracks at St. Clair West station just after noon Tuesday emerged almost unscathed after he was rescued by a Toronto Transit Commission worker and several Good Samaritans.
Brad Ross, the TTC’s executive director of corporate communications, said it was a relief that no one was seriously injured.
The man only suffered a cut hand.
"He was helped back up to the platform by some bystanders. The power was cut, so the track was safe," he told CBC News in an interview.
Officials say alcohol may have been a factor in the fall.
TTC customers are advised to contact an employee if they ever see anyone on the tracks.
In an emergency, there are power cutoffs at each end of the subway platform.
