Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers detained a 25-year-old man in the east end of St. John's Saturday night for allegedly assaulting a taxi driver.
Police responded to the scene shortly before 11:30 p.m.
RNC said the cab driver declined to file a police report, however, the man was detained as a result of being in breach of several court orders.
The accused was arrested and held for a court appearance on Sunday.
