Calgary's Sled Island announces first wave of artists for 2015 festival

The Sled Island Festival is going into its ninth year with a strong lineup of artists ready to flood the city with music.

The five-day music and arts festival starts on June 24 and will bring together more that 250 bands, artists, comedians and filmmakers in more than 30 venues across Calgary.

Sled Island organizers rolled out their first wave of artists on Tuesday, which include this year's guest curators Godspeed You! Black Emperor, post-punk legends Television, and Canadian music icon Daniel Lanois.

Lanois will be doing a residency and artist talk at the National Music Centre and also performing later in the week at the Republik.
