Cameras keeping eye on grounds

Security cameras have been put in place on the grounds at Hymers Fair following reports of people having bon fires on the property and driving vehicles and leaving ruts. Hymers Agricultural Society president Erin Laforest said on Monday the cameras were put in place earlier this year. "We haven't reported anything officially because we were waiting to see if this becomes a serious issue," Laforest said. Steel ropes and other barriers are in place during the off-season to discourage vehicles from entering the fairgrounds, Laforest said. The annual Labour Day weekend fair, which was established in 1912, is one of the oldest in Canada.
