McMorris, Parrot lead trio of Canadians into men's big air final

Mark McMorris, Max Parrot, and Sebastien Toutant have qualified for the men's big air final at the Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
The trio of Canadians will compete in the medal round beginning on Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
Regina's McMorris qualified third in the second heat with a score of 95.75, while Toutant of L'Assomption, Que., landed a 91.00 to finish fifth.

Parrot of Bromont, Que., finished atop the first heat with a best-run score of 92.50, which he put down on his second attempt.

The top six competitors in each group earned a spot in the final.

Despite landing a pair of 1440s, Tyler Nicholson of North Bay, Ont., was awarded 89.25 for his best jump, leaving him short of Billy Morgan of Great Britain, who grabbed the sixth spot in the second heat at 90.50.

American teen Redmond Gerard, who won the slopestyle event on Feb. 11, qualified sixth in the first heat with an 85.00.
Parrot and McMorris claimed silver and bronze, respectively, in the slopestyle to capture Canada's first two medals of the 2018 Games.
