Canada Day 2015: What's open and closed in Halifax

With Canadians gearing up for Canada Day celebrations across the country on July 1, here's a list of what's open and what's not across the Halifax region on Wednesday:

Grocery stores:

- Atlantic Superstore locations are closed.

- Sobeys locations are closed.

Liquor and beer:

- All NSLC locations are closed.

- Propeller Brewery will open its Gottingen Street location (10 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and Windmill Road location (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.).

- Garrison Brewery on Marginal Road is open regular hours (8 a.m. to 9 p.m.).

- Bishop's Cellar is open regular hours (10 a.m. to 10 p.m.).

- Moosehead Cold Beer Store (10 a.m. to midnight)

Malls:

- Halifax Shopping Centre is closed.

- Mic Mac Mall is closed.

- Park Lane Mall is closed.

- Scotia Square is closed.

Banks:

- All banks are closed.

Halifax Public Libraries:

- All branches of the Halifax Public Library will be closed on Canada Day.

Parking:

- Parking is free at meters on Wednesday. Other parking signs — such as no-parking zones — still apply.

Transit services:

- Regular Halifax Transit buses will operate on a holiday schedule.

- Halifax Transit is offering free ferry service from all its terminals on Canada Day. For detailed ferry schedules visit here. In lieu of a fare, Halifax Transit is asking passengers to support Feed Nova Scotia by bringing a non-perishable food item or cash donation.

Garbage, green bin and recycling collection:

- Curbside collection of garbage, organics or recyclables normally scheduled for Canada Day will occur on Saturday, July 4.

- The waste processing and disposal facilities in Otter Lake, the two composting facilities and the municipal recycling plant will be closed.

Canada Post:

- All post offices will be closed. There is no collection or delivery of mail on Canada Day.
