Car smashes into Hollywood business on Sheridan Street. It’s not the first time

A car crashed into a Hollywood flooring business early Tuesday morning.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office received a call just after 3 a.m. of a car crash at Wholesale Flooring Depot at corner of Sheridan Street and N 22nd Ave.

“We live like a mile away on U.S. 1 and it sounded like a wrecking ball going through a building,” resident Steven Deshazo told Miami Herald news partner CBS4, “We heard like a really fast car going by, at least 100 mph it sounded like, and then we heard this big, loud noise. By the time we came here, the police and paramedics had shown up.”

A gray 2014 Audi sped westbound on Sheridan Street over the railroad tracks, lost control after colliding with a street sign and hit the building, knocking down its garage door and nearby walls, according to CBS4.

This crash is the second time in four years that a vehicle crashed into the flooring business. In March 2021, a driver’s car launched into the air after speeding over train tracks and crashed into the building.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
