VMAs 2018: Cardi B Unveiled a Pixie Cut

Old Hollywood glam vibes.

Cardi B pulled out all the beauty stops for her first red carpet appearance since the birth of her first child Kulture Kiari Cephus. Making an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Monday evening, the "Bodak Yellow" rapper unveiled a serious change in hair.

Prior to appearing on the VMA stage, Cardi showed off a drastically different 'do, ditching her previously longer hair for a short and tightly cropped pixie cut. Although she's been known to embrace a rainbow of hair colors in the past, including a shade seemingly inspired by unicorns, the performer was without her recent bright blue shade for MTV's musical festivities.

She rounded out the night's elegant look with an equally stunning makeup palette. Along with a seriously winged out cat eye, the new mom's VMAs beauty look included a hint of glitter. A touch of golden shimmer was applied along her upper eyelids, which acted as a sparkly compliment to the drastic, dark cat eye. She then added another layer of color to her eyes, lining the bottom of her lids in a shade of playful purple. Meanwhile, her lips were more subtle, popping in a neutral shade.

Of course, the look wasn't complete without one of her signature manicures. Cardi B posed with fingernails that nearly twinkled, her nails covered in jeweled accents courtesy of nail artist Jenny Bui.

Over the years, Cardi B hasn't been shy about serving up memorable red carpet beauty moments, and while we've seen her sport some seriously bold colors and unforgettable makeup looks in the past, this VMAs ensemble was more subtle, reminding us of old Hollywood glam. Whether through her music or her makeup, it looks like we can always count on Cardi B to keep us guessing.
