Carolinas Top 25: 2 new high school football teams enter poll for best of NC, SC

Two new teams join the Carolinas Top 25 high school football poll this week, and a North Carolina team from jumps into the Top 5.

Boiling Springs (NC) Crest jumped from No. 2 to No. 1 in The Charlotte Observer/News & Observer of Raleigh poll of North Carolina’s top 3A teams this week.

Now, the Chargers jump two spots to No. 4 in the Carolinas’ wide rankings. Crest is averaging 54 points per game.

The Top 10 is still heavy with NC teams: No. 1 Providence Day of Charlotte, followed by No. 3 Greensboro Grimsley, No. 4 Crest, No. 6 Greensboro Dudley, No. 7 Kings Mountain, No. 8 West Charlotte and No. 9 Butler of Matthews.

Summerville is the top South Carolina team at No. 2. Also in the top 10 from SC are No. 5 South Florence and No. 10 Rock Hill Northwestern.

Two SC teams enter the poll this week. Spartanburg (4-2) jumps in at No. 21, and White Knoll (5-0) is No. 25.
