Cash register ripped off in a string of Marystown thefts

RCMP on the Burin Peninsula are investigating a number of break, enter and theft incidents in Marystown.

Police said all the crimes took place on Saturday.

At 5:40 a.m., a male suspect broke the front door window and entered Wong's Restaurant on McGettigan Boulevard, and left with the cash register and an undisclosed amount of cash.

A little more than an hour later, the front door window of a convenience store on Forest Road was broken. One person broke the window while another waited nearby. The two then left the scene.

Police said video surveillance showed a vehicle passing by shortly before the vandalism occurred.

The vehicle is not believed to be involved, but police are interested in speaking with the driver.

Also on the same morning, police believe the same suspect or suspects were involved in going through vehicles on Fleming Place and Harris Drive.

Some coins were stolen.

RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspects and locating stolen property. Anyone with information can contact the Burin Peninsula District RCMP at (709) 279-3001, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
