Channel Buddy the Elf at home for the holidays with this candy-topped “spaghetti” ice cream dessert

“Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color?” It’s days after Thanksgiving, but that hasn’t stopped us from quoting all our favorite lines from our favorite OG holiday movie, Elf. Bingeing Elf all through December is a tradition we love, and now you can eat like Buddy with this “spaghetti” ice cream recipe.

As you probably know (if you’re as big an Elf stan as we are), Buddy is enjoying a plate of spaghetti with his family and then pours maple syrup all over it because his diet mostly consists of sugar. Happily, the “spaghetti” in this recipe is actually vanilla ice cream, meaning you can eat like Buddy without actually having to mix sugar into tomato sauce-smothered pasta. This serves as a perfect dessert for your family around the holidays while you watch, what else, Elf.

Elf Ice Cream Spaghetti

Serves 1 (serving size: 1 1/2 cups ice cream)
Active 5 min. Total 30 min.

Ingredients

1 pt. vanilla gelato, softened
1/4 cup chocolate syrup
1/4 miniature marshmallows
2 Tbsp. red and green candy-coated milk chocolate pieces (such as M&M’S)
2 tsp. crushed candy canes (from 1 candy cane)

Directions

1. Place serving bowl in freezer for 15 minutes. Spoon softened gelato into a potato ricer, and press into cold bowl, swirling around the bowl to resemble “noodles”. Place bowl back in freezer until hardened, about 10 minutes.

2. When ready to serve, remove bowl of gelato “noodles” from freezer; top with chocolate syrup, marshmallows, chocolate candies, and crushed candy cane. Serve immediately.
