"When you have nothing left to prove," states the real estate listing for an $11-million Winnipeg mansion.
The 27,000-square-foot riverside estate on the city's posh Wellington Crescent comes with 28 rooms, 12 bathrooms, geothermal heating, an indoor pool under a skylight, and an outdoor pool.
The listing also cites a "quaint guest cottage" and includes a photo of the raised, stone-clad building surrounded by trees and overlooking the Assiniboine River. It's also the highest listing price ever in Winnipeg.
"If we were to look at an $11-million dollar listing in Vancouver or Toronto, you're going to look at this one as a bargain for sure," said Peter Squire, director of public affairs with Winnipeg Realtors.
"Going through the pictures, people will see they put a lot of money in this house."
The price of the home far exceeds that of the previous record-setting listing in Winnipeg of $7.45 million.
That 13,200-square-foot house in the city's Tuxedo neighbourhood went on the market in 2010. It came with actual gold-painted cabinets, multiple terraces, elevators, a spa, gym, a sports court, wine cellar, and media room — as well as an annual tax bill of almost $30,000.
That one never sold, according to Squire.
"[It was] obviously a spectacular home but nowhere near in the scale and size and magnitude to this one that's currently listed for $11 million," he said.
So far, the highest price paid for a home in the city is $2.2 million. That has happened twice, Squire said.
The new listing for the Wellington Crescent home doesn't include the property taxes, but it does say that monthly mortgage payments would be $56,363.09, based on a 30-year term at 4.64 per cent.
