Chiefs fans donate to charity of Tyler Bass after Buffalo Bills fans harass him

Bills kicker Tyler Bass could have skipped out on talking to the media following the Chiefs’ 27-24 win in Sunday’s AFC Divisional playoff game.

Bass’ 44-yard field goal attempt that would have tied the game with under 2 minutes to play sailed wide right, but he talked with reporters about the miss.

Unfortunately, it seems some Buffalo Bills fans took aim at Bass for the loss, and he has since deleted his X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram accounts, according to WYRK-FM. That site said Bass had received “thousands of hate comments in less than 24 hours.”

Some people are showing love to Bass, who has worked with the Ten Lives Club, a no-kill cat shelter in Blasdell, New York.

“WE STAND WITH TYLER BASS. DON’T BULLY OUR FRIEND,” the shelter wrote in an Instagram post. “We just heard the terrible news that Tyler Bass is receiving threats after yesterday’s game and our phones are ringing off the hook from people who want to donate $22 to Ten Lives Club in Tyler’s name.Tyler doesn’t deserve any of the hate he’s receiving. He’s an excellent football player and an even better person who took the time to help our organization and rescue cats last year. Leave our friend alone.”

WKBW-TV said the shelter had received more than $25,000 in donations, many from Buffalo fans who were upset at the response from some in Bills Mafia.

Chiefs fans have stepped up to help, too.

“Done. $22.22 donated & up voting this to get it closer to the top,” a fan wrote on Reddit.

Another shared this: “donated 27.24 in Tyler’s honor.”

“Donated! I feel bad for the guy…always hate when a game comes down to a kicker or bad call,” a fan wrote on Reddit.

Another wrote: “Donated, Chiefs Kingdom in Austin, TX”

“I don’t even like cats and gave 25 because it was easy to click the $25 button,” a fan wrote on Reddit.

Another shared this: “No service fee if you go thru PayPal. This longtime Chiefs fan and dog lover, gladly donated $22.”
