Some Chiefs fans took note of KC items behind Bengals’ Tee Higgins in ESPN interview

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow told reporters earlier this week that he wants pending free agent wide receiver Tee Higgins to return next season.

Burrow made the comment at an end-of-season news conference as the Bengals missed out of the playoffs. The Chiefs had a hand in keeping the Cincinnati out of the postseason thanks to their Week 17 win at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Higgins’ teammate Ja’Marr Chase had uncomplimentary things to say about the Chiefs before and after the Bengals’ loss. And that animosity continued Wednesday when he and Higgins were interviewed on ESPN’s “SportsCenter.”

Both were asked which teams in this year’s playoff field would advance to the Super Bowl, and Chase said, “Anybody but the Chiefs.”

Video of the comments by Chase, who had 41 yards receiving in the loss to the Chiefs, went viral. Some Chiefs fans poked fun at Chase for his continued barbs, but others noticed something about Higgins.

Specifically what was behind Higgins in the interview. A jersey of former Chiefs wide receiver Cornell Powell was hanging on one side of the wall. On the other side was an Isaiah Simmons Arizona Cardinals jersey.

Higgins was teammates with Powell and Simmons at Clemson, but Simmons went to Olathe North High School. That’s two Kansas City connections on one wall.

Sure, it’s a stretch to think Higgins has the Chiefs on his mind. However, some KC fans were happy to dream about the possibility of Higgins joining the Chiefs.
