Christy's weather: mild temperatures forecast for Yukon, N.W.T.

N.W.T. outlook

Windy weather will remain in the north of the N.W.T. today, with a new low pressure system moving in from the Arctic Ocean. That system will bring some light snowfall to the Beaufort region as well, with 5-10 cm expected in Paulatuk by tonight.

Along with the wind and snow, extremely mild weather is expected for much of the N.W.T.

Temperatures will near the freezing mark in the Delta, and south through the Mackenzie Valley.

The Great Slave region could pick up some light snowfall today and tomorrow with this same system, with temperatures in the minus single digits until Sunday.

Nunavut outlook

Stormy weather is on the horizon for the weekend in the Kivalliq, Cambridge Bay, and Gjoa Haven, with blizzard conditions expected to develop tomorrow and last through Sunday. Today, skies will remain relatively overcast, with light snowfall and temperatures near -20 C in those regions.

Breezy conditions are expected throughout the Kitikmeot today, with gusts to 50 km/h.

Relatively cloudy weather will remain in Iqaluit today, with the risk of flurries through the afternoon and seasonal temperatures near -23 C. The rest of Baffin Island will remain clear and cold through the weekend.

Yukon outlook

Clear and mild weather will remain in the forecast for the southern Yukon today, with temperatures near the freezing mark.

Further north, temperatures will be mild today in the minus single digits, but light snowfall and windy weather is expected in Old Crow. Slightly cooler weather remains in the long range forecast for the territory, with highs dropping towards -10 C by next week.
