In the Season 3 premiere of Chucky, the doll is back up to his murderous shenanigans, only this time he’s set his sights on the White House! But what will bring them to Washington D.C. for their third battle with Chuck? Let’s break it all down.

In the premiere’s opening minutes, we meet new kid Henry, who’s scared of the ghosts that are supposedly hiding in his closet. As his mom tries to calm him down, the boy takes solace in the fact that he has Joseph to protect him… only “Joseph” is actually a Chucky doll. The kid finally gets tucked in and when the camera zooms out, we see they’re living in the White House, and that Henry and his mom are actually the First Lady and her son. And that’s when the power goes out.

The family — including President Devon Sawa Collins and his older teen son Grant — head to an elevator to seek safety, but not before one of their security detail finds Chucky and returns him to Henry. The power outage is deemed a false alarm, but we all know what’s really going bump in the night.

When we check in with Jake, it’s a year later and he’s livestreaming. He says he, Devon and Lexy are all doing much better and finding ways to cope with their traumas. He’s now focusing on his art, and is working on the last part of his creepy doll series. But he needs one last puzzle piece to complete his final work. You guessed it: a Good Guy doll. And he’s willing to pay if anyone can find him one.

At breakfast the next day, Henry is reading a book called “Ghosts of 1600.” (I’m not a parent, but I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that maybe that’s not helping the boy’s nightmares.) Henry says Joseph doesn’t want to go to school with him; he wants to see the Oval Office. For some unknown reason, the president does, in fact, take the doll with him, propping him up in a chair. (Why would he actually do that? To move the plot forward, I suppose.) He does say it’s a coincidence that Henry found a doll with “that name.” The prez and his cohorts leave the room, leaving Joseph alone with a very accessible and very sharp letter opener. Mistake!

We cut over to Lexy, who’s making thirst traps on Tik Tok. She hopes a larger following will help amplify her effort of finding her sister. She shows her followers a recent photo of Caroline and tells her sister she’s going to bring her home. “And be very, very careful with that doll,” she warns.

While Mrs. Collins is bugging over paint swatches, she mentions that she just needs to “keep busy.” Has this family suffered a tragedy we’re not privy too yet? Henry returns from school, but he’s still scared to go to his room. He asks his security detail Teddy to do a sweep. Sadly, it’ll be the last sweep Teddy ever does because Chucky is there waiting for him. The doll grabs his gun and blows his brains out. A full eyeball lands on the wall in a goopy, bloody mess — gross!

The press secretary tells the media that although officials are investigating the possibility of an accidental death, it does look like it may have been self-inflicted. When the president and First Lady take a break with a bong (we can confirm that this president definitely did inhale), we learn that Henry did, in fact, lose a brother, but we aren’t given any more details than that.

Chucky eventually calls Jake, Lexy and Devon to taunt them. When they ask where he is, he says he’s more of a Hide and Seek kind of guy, and that his new residence has strict policies against visitors. That’s all he’ll say for now. Based on the lack of caller ID and a news story on TV about a death at the White House, the kids know exactly where their adversary is. And they plan on traveling to D.C. to kill Chucky once and for all.
